You are in Home » Anthony Joshua To Earn £100m From A Rematch

The rematch with Oleksandr Usyk will make a two-time heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua earn £100m from the fight.

The UK-Nigerian boxer recently penned a mouth-watering deal worth £100m with DAZN to stream his rematch fight in Jeddah.

Joshua was robbed of his WBC, WBO, WBF, and IBO titles in September 2021…

…after Usyk defeated him at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After this defeat, Joshua quickly applied for a rematch clause earlier this year but…

…Russia’s invasion of Ukraine disrupted the rematch. However, the duo has fixed a date for the showdown. The new date is August 20 when both fighters are expected to collect a mega-money payday.

According to the Daily Mail, the site fee alone is said to be around the £92m mark. This is almost double the figure the Sheiks forked out to hold the inaugural Saudi Arabia Grand Prix.

Joshua went home with the bulk of the Sheiks’ £66m site fee when he fought Andy Ruiz Jnr in 2019. This time around, Usyk looks forward to commanding 50 percent of the figure.

About 1.2 million went ahead to purchase the fight despite paying £24.95 to stream the September fight.

Due to the 50/50 split, the UK-based boxer will cash in a minimum of £65m payday. This amount does not include ticket sales and sponsorship deals.

According to The Sun, adding ticket sales and sponsorship deals with the £65m payday could amount to £100m in total.
