This is because there is a new and improved slip introduced by the NIMC which has made it easy for Nigerians to download and/or print it in plastic. The National Identity Management Commission(NIMC) made an announcement in early Q4 of 2022 that those with National Identification Number (NIN) can now check for their NIN, download the slip and/or print it in plastic.

This is because there is a new and improved slip introduced by the NIMC which has made it easy for Nigerians to download and/or print it in plastic.

This new and improved slip can be downloaded on the NIMC portal.

According to the commission, the current NIN Slip will gradually phase out.

Aside from printing and laminating the new and improved NIN slip, you can also use it as a handy phycial means of identification which can fits easily into your pocket etc.

How to Download and print the new and improved NIN slip

There are two steps in downloading and printing out the new slip. You can follow any of these steps in order to download and print out your slip.

STEP ONE (MOBILE)

  1. Download the MWS: NIMC MobileID app on your App or PlayStore.
  2. Launch the app after installing on your Android or iOS device.
  3. Input your NIN.
  4. If you’ve linked your NIN to your phone number(s), you can get a/an One Time Password (OTP) to the phone number(s).
  5. Input the OTP sent to your phone number(s).
  6. Then input your pin.
  7. Confirm your pin.
  8. Login using your pin.
  9. Click on the horizontal lines at the top left and write down or copy your User ID to your phone clipboard. This ID serves as a username to the NIMC portal.
  10. Locate Get Security PIN. Write down your Security PIN. This pin auto-generate every 60 seconds. Be fast in this.
  11. Click on Print NIN Slip.
  12. Input your User ID and the Security PIN. You must do within 60 seconds or you have to generate a new pin.
  13. Once you are sure of the pin, tap on the “Login” button.
  14. On the portal, click on the three horizontal lines at the top before the NIMC Mobile ID header.
  15. You will see two types of slip – Premium and Standard which can be printed right from your dashboard.
    • For the Premium NIN Slip, click on the “PRINT PREMIUM SLIP” button. Tap on the “Pay With Remita” button to continue.
    • To print the Standard NIN Slip, tap on the hamburger icon on the top left corner of your screen and click on “PRINT STANDARD SLIP”. Tap on the “Pay With Remita button to continue.

STEP TWO

  1. Go to the web portal here or here online portal.
  2. Make sure your device is connected to the Internet either by turning on your mobile data or WIFI.
  3. On the homepage tap on the “SECURITY PIN” button.
  4. Take note of the “UserID” and “One Time PIN (OTP)” now displayed at the “Security PIN” section.
  5. For those without a smartphone, dial the USSD code *346*2*Your NIN# to get the UserID and OTP via SMS.
  6. Use the UserID and OTP to log into to theweb portal in in Step 2.1 above.
  7. Go to the the “Print Premium Slip” or “Print Standard Slip” menu section on the portal’s homepage.
  8. Make the relevant payment then download the front and rear parts of your Slip as a PDF document.
  9. You can now print out the PDF document, cut it to the right size, fold it and laminate your Improved NIN Slip in plastic, if you feel like holding plastic card.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE PREMIUM AND STANDARD NIN SLIP

  1. The Premium NIN Slip is in colour while the Standard NIN Slip is in black and white.
  2. The Standard NIN Slip cost four hundred (400) Naira while the Premium NIN Slip cost a thousand (1,000) Naira.

GENERAL NOTE

  1. Make sure you have enrolled and obtained your NIN.
  2. You’ll need your NIN when installing MWS: NIMC MobileID app and the web portal.
  3. If you are making payment, do not close the portal until transaction is made.
  4. Do not exit the app or close the browser immediately after making payment.
  5. Wait for the REMITA processing screen to show SUCCESSFUL or TRANSACTION COMPLETE.
  6. Take care not to leave copies (photocopies, image scans, and so on) of your Improved NIN Slips with anyone else otherwise you leave them with copies of your NIN and verification QR code as well.

NOTE FOR APP USERS

  1. After getting to the successful payment notification screen, tap on the download button to download your NIN slip.
  2. Wait for the download process to be initiated. For iOS users, you will be asked to choose a location to save the pdf file in. Select the “Save to files” option in the next widget that pops up.
  3. Tap on the “Files” icon in the apps section on your mobile device and your PDF NIN slip should be there. For Android users, simply check your “Download” folder to find the save PDF NIN slip.
